“If you want to see things just as they are, then you yourself must practice just as you are.”

 – Dogen

Drawing has been part of my life as far back as I can remember, with my artist father providing my first instruction. Later, a 15-month stay at a Japanese and American Zen monastery introduced me to a broad range of mindfulness exercises and the possibility of art-making to better understand what it means to breath, see, and be. A point of exploration that continues to offer guidance as I move through my personal and professional illustration career.

Drawing is an activity that many of us explored with abandon as children but eventually set aside, frequently due to negative feedback from family, teachers, peers, or our own internal voices. I am passionate about the intersection between making art, wellness, and how we can connect and benefit from that childlike manner of drawing, providing us with an activity that can bring us into the present moment via playful inquiry and mindfulness.

I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to share the above themes via live online corporate well-being events. Please get in touch with me if you’d like more information.
